My
parents, two of my sisters, and my in-laws are all out of state for the week on
assorted vacations and whatnot. The fact that I haven’t yet gone into labor in
the middle of the night, scrambling for a babysitter, a dog-sitter, trying to remember
what the hell I’m supposed to pack in my suitcase, and screaming at my husband
to find and install the infant carseat that is hiding somewhere in that mess
that we call an attic (because seriously, did I not tell him to do that weeks ago?), all the while trying to
breathe through contractions, is amazing to me. Karma must be sleeping on the
job because it’s not scientifically possible for us to be more unprepared at
this moment.
Technically
I have two and a half weeks left to go and I intend to procrastinate up until the
last possible second. Physically I feel great, considering that it’s
ninety-plus degrees out, I’m hauling around the extra weight of three or four
small human beings, and the amount of ice cream that I consume on a daily basis
is going to land me in a twelve-step program*. Sure, I get out breath if I
blink too much and there are those days when the pressure in my pelvis is so
bad that I can’t stand up straight because (and this is a direct quote from my
doctor) “those muscles just aren’t what they used to be, you know”. But,
really, I can’t complain. Although I do. Hey, I have two and a half weeks to
take advantage of other peoples’ inherent need to pamper pregnant women and
wait on them hand and foot. I intend to take full advantage. Don’t judge.
*Seriously,
I found this at the grocery store the other day. I now have to hide it from my
two-year old because mommy is not willing to share.
In
other news, we finally got around to taking a few
belly
shots. When you impulsively
spend $900 on a new camera that you really didn’t need (you know, because you
already have, like, four other cameras) it sometimes helps to justify the
purchase by taking some actual photographs. Please forgive the stupid camera
angle. My husband, he was being “creative”.
Wow- I wish I had looked that good when I was pregnant. And why did I think you were a blonde with short hair instead of a brunette with long hair?
Hoping for an easy, quick delivery.

Your belly shots are gorgeous!
Yes- that's key to get the older sibling all squared away in the big kid bed. That's one thing kids don't usually regress from. It's the potty training that will haunt you.

Best wishes for your home stretch! May it not stretch on too long, though!

OMG! I'm so in love with Christopher and his sweetness! That photo of the two of you is great.
Here's wishing you an easy and healthy delivery, enjoy the last days of your pampering, because in two weeks you will be doing all of the pampering! Bad joke, I know...

Christopher's room is so cute. Glad to hear he's doing well actually sleeping in the big boy bed. Let's hope he continues to do so even after his life gets turned upside-down with a baby in the house! Don't you know you're NOT supposed to look GREAT when you're about to have a baby!! Good luck to you.

You have freckles! So adorable... you have the perfect pregnant belly. You're positively glowing. I can't believe you're only 2 weeks out because 1) you don't look like your belly is that big yet, 2) time has just flown by because it seems like yesterday that you announced the pregnancy!
